Welcome to Cake Month!

I had some difficulty in deciding how to organise Cake Month and Cake Decorating Month. I felt I should be doing impressive layer cakes, but there is a whole other kind of cake that I love – the plain, un-iced cakes that go extremely well with a cup of tea. These cakes are neither pretty nor impressive, so I was worried they're not really the kind of thing for a blog. But they are simple to make and delicious to eat and I wanted to record them on here because they are family favourites that I've made time and time again.

They are just the thing for a rainy weekend and all of them require so little effort to make I hope they become one of your favourites too.
